I wish not merely to be called Christian, but also to be Christian.
Our Curriculum
We believe that quality first teaching paired with a coherent curriculum is the key to success for our pupils. We value and celebrate the culturally diverse community we serve and hope to draw on their wealth of talent, skills and knowledge. Our school motto is Where there is Love, there is God and pupils are introduced to the idea of service, both to the school and wider community, through the example of Mary our mother.
At Regina Coeli, our vision is to develop a community where our school will be a place of excellence, where all staff recognise their position of trust and their responsibilities towards the children in their care. Our curriculum is designed to be knowledge-rich, enquiry based, ambitious for all our pupils and literacy centred and is underpinned by the National Curriculum.
Knowledge-rich: We intend for our pupils to achieve powerful knowledge that gradually increases in complexity so that pupils develop a deep and embedded understanding of the different subjects they study.
Enquiry based: Our vision is that our children achieve agency as independent learners and through our curriculum, we ignite their intellectual curiosity. We believe that effective questioning is a fundamental part of successful learning and progress; this plays a crucial role in every classroom. The curriculum is designed to facilitate the essential principles of mastery, identifying key knowledge, breaking it down into smaller steps until the learning is achieved.
Ambitious for all: Our pupils are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum. We plan for all pupils to access regardless of their starting points. This helps them to make sense of the world in which they live, contribute positively to society and be ready for their next stage of learning.
Literacy centred: We understand the power of story and how the brain privileges narrative therefore high quality literature is central to our curriculum. We make purposeful choices about the books our pupils read so that they can contextualise their learning, foster a love of reading and enhance their acquisition of vocabulary.
Through a research informed approach our curriculum planning is dynamic so that our pupils receive the highest quality provision.
With the help of God's love, the school seeks to develop the whole child. Each child is uniquely created and precious to God and it is our mission, guided by the Holy Spirit, to nurture each child's spiritual, moral and academic growth.
