Every October, our school families collect food and toiletries for those in need in our local community at Purley Food Hub and Croydon Night Watch. We are very grateful to our families for the very generous donations they continue to donate which will provide a great help to those in need. As part of our harvest celebration, Father Simplico, our parish priest from St Dominic’s Waddon, celebrates mass with the children where he teaches us about the importance of sharing what we have with others.
Every term our junior classes go to St Gertrude’s to join the in the parish’s 10am mass. As part of our RE lessons, Year 3 have been learning all about the structure of the mass. After the mass, Father Martin spoke to the children about the different important parts of the service.
In September, some of pupils visited St George’s Cathedral in London where we joined along with children represented from every school within the diocese of Southwark for a very special mass celebrating the start of the academic year. Here are some of our pupils with Archbishop John Williams.
