Be who you were created to be, and you will set the world on fire.
PE
‘You can’t put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the further you get.’ – Michael Phelps (Olympic swimmer)
At Regina Coeli, we recognise the importance of sport and exercise on both physical and mental health. Through early development of the fundamental skills of agility, balance and co-ordination, to the application of this through a wide range of sporting activities, our aim is for pupils to find enjoyment in an active lifestyle that they continue into their adult life. Our curriculum is taught through ‘The PE Hub’ scheme, which provides resources for progression of PE skills, acquisition and use of appropriate vocabulary and assessment of fundamental skill development and application. Swimming lessons are taught in years 5 & 6 through a 2 week intensive program at Wandle Leisure Centre, where each class has 3 qualified swimming coaches providing high quality instruction.
At Regina Coeli, we are proud of our successful engagement in competitive sports within the Croydon leagues, the Croydon Schools Sports Partnership (CSSP) and the Croydon Catholic Schools events in football, netball, basketball, cross-country, athletics, cricket, hockey and swimming. Whilst we pride ourselves on being inclusive in all our teams, we also participate in the annual Panathlon event for pupils with special educational needs (SEND). Our extra-curricular activity timetable is reviewed termly to provide opportunity for pupils to try a range of different sports and activities.
