Extra Curricular Activities
These vary according to the age and interest of the child. Currently extra curricular activities are offered in the following areas:

(Swimming takes place in school time for Years 4/5. A charge of approx. £15 is made)
Music / Choir
Children from the age of 8 years (Year 4) are given the opportunity to audition for an orchestral musical instrument. The Croydon Music Service provide the majority of music teachers for this and parents are charged a termly fee presently of £45.
Currently we offer provision for violin, piano, cello, brass, flute, clarinet and percussion. Piano commences earlier than Year 4. Recorders and guitars commence in year 3. All pupils learn the recorder in Year 3.
The school also has a Choir for pupils from Years 5 & 6 and one session of tuition takes place weekly for choir members. For half the school year the Choir takes place after school (3.15 – 4.15pm) and for half the year in school session times on Tuesday afternoons.
The Choir enters external competitions (winners of the Croydon Choir Festival) and participates in community activities and in the Year 6 End of Year Production held in July.
Sport
Regina Coeli School has a strong sporting tradition. Physical education is seen as an important part of the whole curriculum, which helps to develop all aspects of the whole person. All pupils participate in physical education during curriculum time and are strongly encouraged to join after school sports clubs and clubs within the local community.
AIMS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT REGINA COELI SCHOOL
By the end of Key Stage 2 physical education will have presented pupils with opportunities in the main teaching areas of the National Curriculum (games, gymnastics, swimming, dance, athletics and outdoor and adventurous activities): -
Develop appropriate high quality skill in the activity being taken;

Enjoy sporting activity at whatever level of competence;

Enjoy all physical activity while being mindful of others and the environment;

Learn to lift, carry, place and use all equipment and apparatus safely;

Recognise and follow relevant rules, etiquette and safety procedures for different activities or events, both in practice and during competition;

Appreciate the safety risks of wearing inappropriate clothing, footwear or jewellery and why particular clothing and footwear are worn for different activities;
